Professor Janesh Gupta

I am currently Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO), Honorary Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital and previously Full Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University of Birmingham, from May 2006 to January 2023.

I am a Clinical Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and have been since 1995, at 31 years of age, starting in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ninewells Hospital & Medical School, Dundee, Scotland for 3 years (from 1995-1998). I moved to Birmingham Women’s Hospital in 1998.

I have been writing medicolegal reports since 1999. I have a wide ranging expertise in civil clinical negligence and criminal cases and have given opinions in Tribunals, General Medical Council hearings, Coroner’s inquests, Medical Defence and Police cases. I have considerable experience in giving evidence in various Courts.
